God is good and His Word is right. Life gets better as we understand His love and better ways to live under His Grace and Truth!

All of our church services and activities have been cancelled until further notice.

I will fear NO evil

Most are familiar with the “corona virus”!  O, that all were very familiar with Psalm 23.  “The Lord is my Shepherd . . .”  and would consider the words in verse 4.  “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow (of COVID-19) death, I will fear NO evil (not this or any other plague, disease, or threat!), for YOU are with me.”  “Fearing no evil” means not being afraid in these or any other circumstances.  Why?  Because Jesus, the Good Shepherd is with us.  No one and nothing can snatch us out of His hand (John 10:28-29).  His nail scarred hand have nailed the death knell to death.  Jesus gives us life by surrendering His life for us on the cross and so, in faith by His grace, “goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Ps. 23:6).

So in this time of crisis and uncertainty, I suggest we seek the Lord earnestly.  Take inventory of your life, your behavior, your attitudes and actions, the use/stewardship of your time, finances, opportunities and talent.  Ask yourself if you are seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.  To the degree that you are not, repent!  Turn!  Turn it around!  Turn yourself around and, letting His Holy Spirit lead you, rearrange your life in alignment with God’s will as outlined in His Word.  “Seek the Lord while He may be found call on Him while He is near.” (Isaiah 55:6)  “I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from ALL my fears!”  (Psalm 34:4)

Do not worry about your life

Are you scared?  Are you fearful?  Are you anxious?  Consider Jesus’ words in His “Sermon on the Mount” (Matthew 6:25-34):  “Do not worry about your life . . .”

Then He encourages us to consider the birds.  Have you stepped outside lately?  I doubt you will get sick if you do, but instead you might experience what I have lately – the birds are singing!  Do you think they know that there is a local, national, global shut-down due to a virus?  All they are conscious of is that Spring is coming!  More sun, higher temperature, buds on tree and then flowers, new life – all kind of great things are about to happen!  Oh, that we had such confidence and faith.  But we can!  And we are invited to embrace that truth by simply focusing on this:  “Are you not of much more value [to God, our heavenly Father] than they [the birds]?” (v. 26)

Said the robin to the sparrow, “I would really like to know why these anxious human beings rush around and worry so.”

Said the sparrow to the robin, “I would think that it must be that they have no heavenly Father such as cares for you and me.”

“Cast your care (all your anxiety!) upon Him for He cares for you!”  I Peter 5:7
