Do not worry about your life

Are you scared?  Are you fearful?  Are you anxious?  Consider Jesus’ words in His “Sermon on the Mount” (Matthew 6:25-34):  “Do not worry about your life . . .”

Then He encourages us to consider the birds.  Have you stepped outside lately?  I doubt you will get sick if you do, but instead you might experience what I have lately – the birds are singing!  Do you think they know that there is a local, national, global shut-down due to a virus?  All they are conscious of is that Spring is coming!  More sun, higher temperature, buds on tree and then flowers, new life – all kind of great things are about to happen!  Oh, that we had such confidence and faith.  But we can!  And we are invited to embrace that truth by simply focusing on this:  “Are you not of much more value [to God, our heavenly Father] than they [the birds]?” (v. 26)

Said the robin to the sparrow, “I would really like to know why these anxious human beings rush around and worry so.”

Said the sparrow to the robin, “I would think that it must be that they have no heavenly Father such as cares for you and me.”
